April 5, 2009--Mesquite, Nevada, is a golf destination that is the home of six Mesquite golf courses plus seven hotels. And recently, the St. Louis-Dispatch ran an article about this mini-golf mecca, labeling the story as such: "Otherworldly rounds in Mesquite." Most likely, the headlined was selected following a round at Wolf Creek Golf Club, one of the west's most notable and out-of-this-world golf experiences. "Word of mouth has spread not only about Mesquite in general but also about its crown jewel - Wolf Creek," wrote Dispatch reporter Ron Cobb. "The eight-year-old course, rated No. 25 on Golf Digest's list of America's best public golf courses, winds through an otherworldly series of pale dunes, creating something akin to a lunar landscape."
"I tell golf groups you've got to play Wolf Creek," Rick Morris, a Eureka Hotel group golf salesman, was quoted as saying in the article. Several Mesquite golf packages are available for the Wolf Creek Golf Club and Eureka Hotel combination. One golfer in the article was quoted as saying that Wolf Creek Golf Club was "one of the best courses I have ever played" while another stated the following about Wolf Creek Golf Club: "It's fantastic," said a Jim Longlas, an MRI repairman from Los Angeles. "Golf magazines say it's like playing golf on Mars. That pretty much says it. From some of the elevated tee boxes, it looks like you have to hit it all the way to Vegas. I love it for the sheer craziness of it."
The other Mesquite golf courses are Casablanca Golf Club, a Cal Olson design that is located adjacent to the Casablanca Resort; The Oasis Golf Club, 36 holes of terrific golf including a tempting design by Arnold Palmer; Falcon Ridge Golf Club, another Mesquite golf course that winds through the native desert; and The Palms Golf Club, the original Mesquite golf course that is a joy to play and is the hom of a flat, water-filled front nine and a canyon, mountainess back nine.
The Mesquite area is also home to the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship, the Nevada Open and the Mesquite Amateur events in addition to other big events.
